Managing Principal Steven Toscher was interviewed for a CBS News Report on the administration’s enforcement regarding non-profit organizations. The article reflects increasing activity on many fronts including the Department of Justice and potential new Internal Revenue Service 990 Reporting requirements.

Steve said that from a good governance perspective, he does not see a problem with requiring nonprofits to disclose terrorism-related convictions of their board members. At the same time, he said, it’s fair to raise questions about why the administration wants this information, what it might use it for and how it defines terrorism.

In 2024 Mr. Toscher was the recipient of the prestigious Jules Ritholz Memorial Merit Award presented by the Civil and Criminal Tax Penalties Committee of the Taxation Section of the American Bar Association, recognizing tax lawyers who have demonstrated outstanding dedication, achievement and integrity in the field of civil and criminal tax controversies.
